Clive Simpson was born in Derby, England, and grew up in the Fens of South Lincolnshire. Whilst at school during the late 1960s and early 1970s he became enthralled by the US Moon landings - the beginnings of a life-long and subsequent professional interest in space exploration. He trained with EMAP as a reporter from 1978, covering news, features, business politics and crime before transferring to the company's specialist titles division in Peterborough.

After three years of freelancing and magazine editing in London, Clive handled the internal and external communications for two international companies before setting up his own media agency on the south coast near Portsmouth. A member of the British Association of Journalists, he has written hundreds of articles, edited and contributed to two books and currently works extensively within the international space industry.

Clive has also been Editor of Spaceflight magazine since 2001. He has received numerous awards, the most recent being this year (2008) when he won the Sir Arthur C Clarke award for 'best space reporting'.
